Are you 100% sure that when you die, you will go to Heaven? This may seem like a difficult question, but the answer doesn't have to be. Many people will answer this question with an, "I hope so." or "Maybe" or "I'm working on it."
The Bible offers us a better solution. It tells us that we can know for sure.
1 John 5:13
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
The Bible refers to all mankind as sinners. Sin is when we go against God's commands on how we are to live our life. Because of this sin, we are separated from God and not equal to him. He is perfect, we are not.
Romans 3:23
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
We cannot sin against God without consequence. The Bible refers to death as being the main punishment for our sin. This began with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, and continues to this day.
Romans 5:12
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
Our death is separated into two parts: Body and Soul. Our body will die one day due to the penalty of sin. However, the greater consequence is our soul being separated from God forever. We cannot carry our sin into Heaven and corrupt its perfection, so God is forced to put us into Hell where we will pay for our sins.
Matthew 10:28
And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Revelation 21:8
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
God loves you, and He doesn't want to be separated from you or for you to pay for your sins. That is why He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to come to earth and pay for your sins. This is why He died on the cross - to shed His blood and pay the penalty of death required for your sins. He then rose again from the dead after three days to prove He was God and that He has power over death.
Romans 5:8
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
God has already done the hard part by dying for us on the cross. The Bible says that if you want forgiveness for your sin and eternal life with God that all you need to do is believe in Jesus Christ, and accept Him as your personal Savior. This salvation is freely offered to us as a gift. We cannot earn it.
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Everyone! God died for the sins of all mankind. It doesn't matter where you came from, or what you've done. God is freely offering forgiveness and salvation to you. He will take you just as you are. All you have to do is pray to God in belief and accept His Son, Jesus Christ.
Romans 10:9
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Romans 10:13
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
